Nottinghamshire took victory by 321 runs after a rampant display against Kent on Day Four of their County Championship contest at Trent Bridge.

Kent were bowled out for 85 in their second innings, thanks to a Dane Paterson five-fer and four wickets for Brett Hutton, after Notts earleir declared on 372/6.

Joe Clarke and Will Young racked up quick fire runs with the bat, both reaching half-centuries in under 50 balls, but Kent's innings ending within 22 overs was the highlight of a chaotic clash.

Nottinghamshire looked to maintain control on the final day of their LV= Insurance County Championship clash against Kent on an overcast morning at Trent Bridge.

Notts resumed on 176/1, leading by 210 runs, with Will Young and Ben Slater at the crease.

Slater had his pads clipped by Evison early in the opening session, with the umpire deeming it lbw for 87.

The opener’s replacement was Joe Clarke, who took little time to get scoring. Two maximums and six fours for the top order batter led him to a 25-ball half-century, followed by his third six in around twenty minutes five balls later.

Young also reached a quick half-century of his own, as Notts looked to ensure a declaration with plenty of overs left to bowl.

Clarke and Young amassed 114 runs together off 78 deliveries, but the former was caught for 73 while attempting a twelfth boundary in 40 balls.

Tom Moores kept the run rate high, though was denied a second boundary by an admirable catch from Blake.

Young whacked his first six of the day beyond the leaping Blake and added another few runs after that in a classy knock.

His action would end on 87, as Mullaney and James piled on the runs.

There wasn’t a single dot ball in the final four Nottinghamshire overs, including four sixes off the last eight balls of the innings however the dismissal of the club captain off Bhuiyan for 23 was the final Notts action with the bat, declaring on 372/6.

Kent had been set 407 off 72 overs by the home side and lost three wickets before the morning session was complete.

Hutton took the first wicket with his seventh delivery, uprooting Albert’s off stump for a duck, quickly followed by Paterson removing Geddes for one after a great reaction catch by Slater at short leg, and Compton via lbw off his next over.

The loss of Compton for 8 meant lunch was taken with Notts in a commanding position, and Kent on 17/3.

The home side continued their charge three overs into the afternoon session, as Hutton rapped the pads of Finch for twelve, then coaxed Leaning into an edge while attempting to send the ball to the boundary.

Evison was removed for five by Paterson as Young squeezed his fingers underneath the ball to scoop superbly before the South African added Quinn following a brilliant Ben Martindale grab.

Hutton continued to hammer the advantage home by dismissing Blake, partly thanks to Mullaney’s clever position on the boundary to claim comfortably.

Paterson completed his five-fer as Hutton caught Arshdeep Singh going for a maximum before Haseeb Hameed’s first professional wicket sealed the match before tea for Nottinghamshire.

A special mention for Brett Hutton who claimed his 50th (and 51st, and 52nd) wicket of the season - the quickest to reach the milestone in both division one and two of the LV= County Championship this season.

In the end, the winning margin stood at 321 runs, as Kent had been bowled out for just 85.
