Nottinghamshire claimed three batting bonus points against Kent on Day Two of their County Championship fixture at Trent Bridge, as persistent showers brought play to a premature stoppage.

Kent went into tea on 102/2, chasing 350 set by Notts earlier in the day before rain scuppered any hopes of play continuing after the break.

Tom Moores fell six short of a century with the bat, while Brett Hutton and Luke Fletcher took a wicket each in the attack.

Nottinghamshire hoped to continue their good start against Kent on Day Two of their LV= Insurance County Championship clash, on a glorious morning at Trent Bridge.

Afer finishng yesterday on  275/5, it was Tom Moores, resuming on a fine 77*, alongside Lyndon James who led the charge.  Arshdeep Singh bowled the first over of the day with the new ball, but couldnt find an early break though as Moores rose to the challenge, finding three early boundaries in the first seven overs of the day.

The pair had clearly found their flow again, athough Moores was caught by Toby Albert off the bowling of Quinn just six short of a century and one shy of a 50 partnership.

The Wicket-Keeper’s contribution helped send Notts beyond the 300 mark, with Calvin Harrison joining James at the crease who amassed a partnership of 18 before Ben Compton snatched at slip off the bowling of Joey Evison to dismiss Harrison.

A couple of boundaries were added between James and Hutton before the latter was caught behind by Finch off Jas Singh.

James departed for a battling 36, but Luke Fletcher guided the home side to a third batting bonus point, ending on a total of 350 all out.

Five overs were bowled before lunch with Kent limited to eight without loss, but Nottinghamshire began to make inroads during the afternoon.

Hutton initiated proceedings by trapping Ben Compton lbw for 14 before Harrison grabbed a Fletcher delivery that cannoned off Albert’s outside edge.

When both teams strolled into the pavilion for tea, the clouds that had amassed over Trent Bridge started to open, the covers were applied and, despite everyone's best efforts, play was brought to a close prematurely with worsening conditions forecast for the rest of the evening.

Kent will resume tomorrow on 102/2, trailing by 248 runs.
