Homegrown all-rounder Lyndon James has been awarded his County Cap by Nottinghamshire.
The 25-year-old recently made his 50th First-Class appearance for the Green and Golds, having also played 30 List A and 29 T20 games for the club.
“The County Cap is awarded to individuals who have gone above and beyond in making significant contributions to the club, and Lyndon has done that,” Director of Cricket, Mick Newell, said.
“He’s evolved as a player and a person to become an important part of this side in all formats, and he’s worked relentlessly to be the best performer he can be in all areas of the game.
“He’s an astute tactician and is constantly learning from those around him, having now also developed into a more senior figure in the dressing room as a player with experience under his belt.”
James began in Notts’ age-group system, and graduated through the pathway before being named Second XI captain.
He made his First-Class debut against Essex in 2018, and became a mainstay of the Green and Golds’ side for their third-placed Division One finish in 2021, which involved a one-off two-stage league format.
A year later, as Notts secured promotion from Division Two of the County Championship, he scored 890 runs at an average over 52.
This year, he is the club’s second-top wicket-taker in Division One behind Dillon Pennington.
In his white-ball career for the Outlaws, James has nearly 1000 runs, with five fifties in the 50-over format and 21 wickets at 25 apiece.
He was presented his cap by Club Captain Haseeb Hameed prior to play against Surrey at Trent Bridge.
“Everyone here is really proud of you, and you should be extremely proud of yourself,” Hameed said.
“You’ve come through the Academy, you’re Notts through-and-through, and since you made your debut in 2018 as a 19-year-old you’ve gone from strength to strength.
“Notably, this is a reward for the level of performances which you have put in consistently over the last few years. We’re all really proud, it’s been an exciting journey so far, and we’re looking forward to seeing what comes next.”
