Fateh Singh scored a quickfire ton on the third day of Nottinghamshire Second XI’s red-ball fixture against Leicestershire, as both sides could clinch victory on the final day.

After wicketkeeper Dane Schadendorf (59) and Jordan Neil (63) saw Notts on to a promising start to their second innings, Singh prevented a middle-order collapse by powering his way to 105 from 79 balls, including 13 fours and four sixes, and helped the Green and Golds declare on 323/8 - leading their counterparts by 496 runs.

Brought in for the final chase mid-way through the third day, Leicestershire responded well - Jay Madan and Sam Evans putting on a commendable first-wicket stand of 119 runs before Byron Hatton-Lowe bowled Madan to finally make Notts’ first breakthrough in the 31st over.

The Foxes continued to show plenty of fight, however, and Evans' 149-ball century alongside Harry Swindells was indicative of the stern resistance shown for the remainder of the day as Leicestershire chalked off half of their target in hope of pulling off an impressive run-chase.

An enticing final day of the contest in Loughborough will commence at 11am, with Notts requiring 9 wickets - Leics 251 runs - to win.
