Forget Me Notts members and carers make merry at Christmas lunch
Trust News
Trent Bridge celebrated its annual Forget Me Notts Christmas Lunch this week, with the club's sponsors John Pye Auctions supporting the event for the sixth year running.
The festive feast in the Derek Randall Suite saw over 80 members of the Forget Me Notts programme - which provides social and sporting opportunities for those living with dementia and their carers - joined by Trent Bridge Community Trust staff, volunteers, partner organisations, trustees and representatives of John Pye Auctions, enjoying a two-course festive meal as well as musical entertainment and a visit from canine friends.
Joyful Jukebox performed an array of carols and festive hits from across the decades for the attendees to sing along to, before Paddy and Gunnie the labradors from Dunromin Therapy Dogs provided some furry company for all to enjoy.
Deputy Head of Community and Development, Ian Dipaolo, said: “Christmas can be an especially lonely time for those living with dementia, which is why it is incredibly important for us to hold events such as these. We have received fantastic feedback from the members of the programme, and it was clear that everyone in attendance had a fantastic time.
“It was also the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to the tireless work of our community staff and volunteers, who run the many sessions and events which take place throughout the calendar year and are essential to the success which the project has enjoyed. They represent the values which we aspire to and are a credit to the programme.”
Forget Me Notts is a free adult dementia project with over 150 members, and is rolled out at various venues within Rushcliffe. It aims to reduce social isolation, encouraging physical activity and provide support to those directly and indirectly affected by dementia.
“As always, we are incredibly grateful for the generosity shown by our friends at John Pye, who also graciously provided the prizes for our raffle held during the event,” Ian added, “They have shown a tremendous amount of support to the programme and we look forward to continuing this close relationship into the future.”
