Lucy Higham has agreed a new contract with The Blaze to extend her stay at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2028 season.
Bowling all-rounder Higham has claimed 48 wickets and scored almost 500 runs in 73 all-format appearances for The Blaze.
Born in Leicester, she has spent her entire professional career in the East Midlands, having signed for then-named Lightning at the advent of the regional era in 2020.
The 28-year-old remained with the side through the move to Trent Bridge in 2023 and renaming as The Blaze, and also through the change to the new county structure prior to 2025.
“I’m really happy to be staying at this club, which has become a really special place for me, for another two years,” said Higham.
“I’m excited to continue working with a really talented bunch of players and a great staff group, and we’ve all built some great momentum together.
Higham won The Hundred in 2025 with Northern Superchargers, having also previously played for Trent Rockets, and will move to London Spirit for the 2026 edition.
She counts Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire among her former sides prior to and during the regional era, as well as turning out for Loughborough Lightning in the Kia Super League.
“The East Midlands has always been home for me, and I can’t wait to contribute even more to this team both on and off the field as we continue to push for success,” continued Higham.
“We’ve had some brilliant support from our fans, and we’ve made great progress together, so I can’t wait to see what we can achieve over the seasons to come.”
The Blaze Head Coach, Craig Cumming, added: "We’re really pleased to secure a contract extension for Lucy. She’s someone who is a leader on and off the field with the standards that we want to see every day.
“Her experience and cricketing intelligence make her a hugely valuable part of our environment, and she’s often shown her real ability to influence games in key moments with bat, ball, and in the field.
“We're pleased that Lucy will continue to play an important role in our club and we're excited to see the impact she can make in the future.”
