Toby Pettman’s 4/43 set Nottinghamshire on the way to a commanding position ahead of the third day of their Second XI Championship fixture against Leicestershire.
Pettman took four wickets and recorded five maidens in an impressive 17-over performance at Loughborough, as Leicestershire were all out for 214 in just 57.1 overs on day two, in reply to their opponents’ 387.
Farhan Ahmed (2/58), Fateh Singh (1/17), Byron Hatton-Lowe (1/30), Tom Loten (1/19) and George Burrows (1/39) swept up the other six scalps between them, leaving Notts with a lead of 173 as they commenced their second innings midway through the afternoon session.
The Green and Golds lost Ben Martindale and Matt Montgomery to Sam Wood early on in the afternoon, but marched on - thanks to a second fifty of the contest from Dane Schadendorf, supported by Jordan Neil's 44 - to bolster their lead to 290 runs by the close of play.
Having reached 117/2 in their second innings, Notts will resume their quest for victory at 11am.
