Byron Hatton-Lowe captained Midlands U18s in the ECB’s Super4s tournament at Loughborough this week, with Nottinghamshire team-mate Akand Gangotra also representing the region.
The pair featured in all five of the white-ball matches - three 50-over games and two in the T20 format - mustering six wickets between them as Midlands won three out of five contests.
The one-day matches came first, and Hatton-Lowe led his side to an opening day victory over South & West by six wickets, the skipper with a wicket to his name before taking 3/62 and scuttling to a rapid 61 (from just 26 balls) against North to make it two wins from two - Gangotra seeing out the single-wicket victory alongside Headley at the crease in a nervy finish.
Their fortunes contrasted in game three versus London & East, though, beaten by 197 runs; Gangotra took the wicket of Dawkins in a 10-over contribution, while Hatton-Lowe scored another quickfire total of 33 from 13 deliveries.
Friday saw the format switch to T20s, Gangotra taking the scalp of opener Symington - while Hatton-Lowe took two catches - as Midlands beat North by five wickets with an over to spare, but South & West were victorious by 95 runs in the final game of the camp.
