Ben Slater praised the work of Jack Haynes and Matthew Montgomery to steer Nottinghamshire away from a three-day defeat and towards hope of rescuing valuable points at the Seat Unique Riverside.
Slater and Haynes both earned fifties in Notts' second innings, the latter finishing the third day unbeaten after a gruelling three hours at the crease, as the Green and Golds reached stumps trailing by 90 runs.
