The right-armer ended Harry Swindells' 62-ball vigil on 19 runs, before pinning Scott Steel & Roman Walker, and luring Sam Wood into a miscued shot on 5.
There were two scalps apiece for James Hayes and Tom Loten, and a wicket each for Raheem Ahmed and Liam Patterson-White, as the Foxes were bowled out in less than 65 overs.
Notts' reply commenced shortly before stumps on day one, with Ben Martindale caught behind without scoring in the third over.
