Peter Moores is set for a stint Down Under after being named Head Coach of Melbourne Stars for the 2023/24 edition of the BBL.

The Nottinghamshire supremo, who has led the Outlaws to three white-ball titles since taking the reins at Trent Bridge in 2017, will embark on his first winter in Australia's T20 franchise competition, with the 13th edition of the tournament expected to commence in December.

"To improve in sport - whether as a player or coach - you need to be open to new experiences, ideas and environments," he said.

"The opportunity to work with another high-calibre group of players - just as I do at Notts - and to learn from them and try to make a positive impact over a shorter period of time is one which I find really exciting.

"I'll head to Melbourne in the winter with the aim of not only giving the Stars the best chance of reaching the sharp end of the competition, but also gaining knowledge and insight that can help Notts to move forward on my return to England."

Moores will replace former Outlaw David Hussey as Head Coach, with the ex-Australia international now serving as Cricket Victoria's Head of Male Cricket.

The MCG also played host to Joe Clarke in the previous two editions of the BBL, with the Notts Vitality Blast opener finishing as the tournament's leading overseas run-scorer on each occasion.
