Incoming New Zealand international Will Young hopes to bring valuable experience to the table as Nottinghamshire prepare to visit county champions Surrey at the Kia Oval.
Young forms part of a 14-man contingent heading for the capital, hoping to bounce back from defeat to Somerset in their previous red-ball outing.
Young revealed that his brief stay in England has not been long in the planning.
"I was coming back from training last Wednesday night and was expecting to be spending the winter at home, but my agent got in touch and floated the idea to me," he said.
"The more I thought about it, the more fizzed I was to get over here and play three county games for a great side like Notts.
"The night I got in, Pete came round to my house and we chewed the fat for a little bit, which was a nice way to get welcomed into the club. Everyone seems really welcoming."
The Kiwi arrives as another departs in Colin Munro, a former domestic opponent whose time as an Outlaw concluded with a quarter-final defeat in Taunton on Friday night.
"I haven't seen Munners for a while," he said, "we played against each other a lot in domestic cricket years back, but since then he's been travelling the world playing franchise cricket so I haven't seen a lot of him - but he's a top man.
"By the time I'd signed, he sent me a message saying: 'yes, boy - see you soon!'"
In his welcome interview at Trent Bridge, Young touched on his visit in Test whites last summer with the Black Caps and the challenge of preparing for a short-term stint against tough opposition.
