Stuart Broad is set for his 157th Test appearance following selection for the forthcoming fixtures against South Africa.
The Nottinghamshire fast bowler has been named in a 14-man party as the Three Lions aim to stretch their winning run, under the stewardship of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, to five.
The series opener at Lord’s, which commences on Wednesday 17 August, will be followed by contests at Emirates Old Trafford and the Kia Oval.
The squad in full for the fixture is as follows: Ben Stokes (Durham), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Zak Crawley (Kent), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Jack Leach (Somerset), Alex Lees (Durham), Craig Overton (Somerset), Matthew Potts (Durham), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Ollie Robinson (Sussex) and Joe Root (Yorkshire).
Broad’s 2022 summer to date has brought 15 wickets in the Test arena, taking his career tally past 550 and helping the host nation achieve a trio of victories over New Zealand and a series levelling seven wicket triumph against India at Edgbaston.
He had missed out on selection for the spring tour of the West Indies prior to swift reinstatement amid Stokes’ and McCullum public statements of support ahead of the English summer.
Sussex seamer Ollie Robinson returns to the squad for the first time since the Caribbean tour in March. He returned to LV= County Championship action against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge last week after recovering from a back injury.
"After an excellent start to the summer under Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes, we're looking forward to an exciting Test series against a strong South Africa side,” said the ECB Men’s Performance Manager, Mo Babat.
"The selectors have picked a squad for the first two Tests at Lord's and Emirates Old Trafford with continuity in mind.
"It's good to get Ollie Robinson back in the mix after his recent injury. He will continue his progress by playing for the Lions against South Africa in a four-day match at Canterbury next week."
