James Hayes and Tom Barber took two wickets apiece as Worcestershire batted through the entirety of day one to finish 312 for five in the Second XI Championship fixture at Lady Bay.
Former England U19 international Jack Haynes struck an unbeaten 156 for the Pears, spending 81 overs at the crease while Tom Fell and Jacques Banton both made promising starts.
Skipper Zak Chappell used eight bowlers, including Academy prospects Fateh Singh, Travis Holland and Ben Martindale, in their quest for wickets through the day, albeit Second XI mainstays Hayes and Barber proved to be the pick of the bowlers with 2-53 and 2-65 respectively.
In a dogged opening session, Daryl Mitchell was the first visiting batsman to depart with the score on 35 after 18.2 overs, bowled by Barber attempting to leave on length.
Joshua Dell fell within six overs of his opening partner for a fledgling 24, caught at third slip by Jamie Crawley off the back of the bat he treid to turn Haynes to the leg side.
It brought together Fell and Haynes who spent the best part of 26 overs together, patentiently staving off spells from senior seamers Chappell, Hayes and Barber and Toby Pettman.
Hayes had his second in the 50th over, though, when Fell (40) pulled a short ball to Barber at Fine Leg to put an end to an 81-run partnership.
Gareth Roderick partnered Haynes through to the tea interval for the addition of 40 as the Green and Golds rotated their bowlers in the hunt for a breakthrough, one which came a handful of overs after the interval, when Roderick pulled Barber to Connor Brown at mid-wicket for 21 from 61 deliveries.
Notts only had to wait six balls for their next breakthrough, Singh clipping the bail of Alex Milton to leave Worcestershire 210 for five with 25 overs to go.
The visitors used their remaining time productively, Haynes pressing on past his century and later to his 150 with Banton for company, who went about careful accumulation as his colleagues had done through the day, with Worcestershire poised to press on towards a declaration total on day two.
