Assistant Head Coach Paul Franks was delighted with Nottinghamshire’s emphatic response to defeat at home to Somerset, as Essex were thrashed by an innings inside three days in Chelmsford.

Liam Patterson-White returned career-best match figures of 9/109, while Jack Haynes amassed a sparkling 137 not out over more than five hours at the crease and Haseeb Hameed struck 89.

Fergus O’Neill also signed off from his latest Notts spell with a fine all-round performance that saw him hit 61 with the bat and return bowling figures of 6/82, including a second-innings five-fer.

Franks reflected on what he and captain Hameed wanted to see after the Somerset loss, noting his pride at the work rate and performances seen from the squad across the weekend.
