Former Nottinghamshire left arm spinner, Andy Afford, is the guest of Nottingham Cricket Lovers’ Society at its next meeting on Thursday 5 March, with an evening start at 7pm.
Andy played 168 first-class matches for Nottinghamshire between 1984 and 1996. He took 464 wickets, making him one of the most successful spinners in Nottinghamshire’s history. He was part of the squad which won the County Championship in 1987 and played in a winning Notts side in the 1989 B&H Cup Final at Lord’s, when he took the vital wicket of Essex captain Graham Gooch. Since retirement Andy has been involved in publishing cricket magazines and is now Managing Director of a successful creative design agency based in Nottingham. Last year he was elected to serve on the Club’s General Committee.
In the first part of the meeting there will be a presentation on the re-development of the Trent Bridge Pavilion. The Club’s Commercial Director, Michael Temple, will outline progress of this major project and describe the improvements and benefits that players, officials and members will see as the 2026 season unfolds.
This meeting will take place in the Derek Randall Suite, in the Hound Road Stand at Trent Bridge at 7pm, with access to the ground through the Hound Road Gate.
Everyone is welcome at meetings of the Society. Individual membership of the Society costs £20 per year - £30 for a couple and £5 for juniors.
Non-members are very welcome to attend an individual meeting at a cost of £10 in cash on the door.
