Jon Bateson-Clarke has been promoted to Assistant Head Coach of The Blaze.
Bateson-Clarke - who has spent seven years in the East Midlands with Lightning and The Blaze - was a crucial figure in The Blaze’s Charlotte Edwards Cup campaign as Assistant Coach in Chris Guest’s team.
He will now work with Head Coach Craig Cumming, who has taken up that post having arrived from Otago Sparks.
“I feel fortunate to have worked in a successful environment over the last couple of years, and I’ve learnt a lot in that period of time,” Bateson-Clarke said.
“This is a move which I hope will help me take on more responsibility and develop my knowledge further both to advance my own career and give more to The Blaze, which has been a big part of my life for a long time.
“I’m passionate about maintaining a culture in which our players and staff feel empowered to be their best and enjoy being at Trent Bridge, and I’m confident that, working with Craig, we can continue to perform on and off the pitch.”
Bateson-Clarke spent the first two years of his coaching career at Loughborough University, before a three-year stint at Derbyshire.
He returned to Lightning Cricket in an Assistant Coach capacity in 2021 before transferring to The Blaze in the same role.
“Jon has a long association with us and this is a great opportunity to take the next step in his coaching journey,” Director of Cricket, James Cutt, said.
“He has a strong relationship with players and staff and has played an important part in what we’ve achieved.
“He’s got a lot to offer the group whilst taking on more responsibility and we look forward to seeing him grow into the role.”
