Your votes have seen Josh Tongue crowned as Player of the Match in Nottinghamshire’s herculean victory over Durham in the opening round of the 2025 Rothesay County Championship.
The Green and Golds completed an eight-wicket win on the final evening after a mammoth battle, with Lyndon James scoring a century and debutant Fergus O’Neill taking eight wickets.
However, Tongue, also making his bow in Green and Gold, beat both in a vote on the club’s social media channels following his combination of seven wickets and first-innings 55 with the bat.
In particular, his devastating spell late on the final afternoon, with a ball very close to the end of its lifespan, saw him claim four wickets in 12 balls to bowl Durham out and tee up a victory chase for the hosts.
Tongue’s knock with the bat, his maiden First-Class half-century, also helped the hosts establish a commanding lead after both sides’ first innings, proving instrumental in shifting the pressure back onto the visitors.
