A potent wicket-taker against a prolific run-scorer: this year's Metro Bank One Day Cup Final promises to be a fascinating clash of styles.

Here, we take a look at two key performers who are set to meet in the showpiece.

With the bat: Andy Umeed (Somerset)

Of all those on show in the 50-over showpiece, none have amassed more runs during the competition so far than Somerset's Umeed.

Having earned a reputation for a patient approach during his early years as an opener, Umeed's innings have been perfectly-paced in 2024. Never more so than in Somerset's competition curtain-raiser, when he made an unbeaten 114 from 121 balls to carry his side to victory over Kent.

The Scotland international has been a model of consistency from that point onwards - hitting 84 against Hampshire, 58 against Derbyshire, 63 against Northamptonshire and 57 in the semi-final against Leicestershire.

Having averaged an eye-watering 87 during the 2023 competition, Umeed's white-ball pedigree has become firmly established.

With the ball: Dan Douthwaite

While Somerset's batters have made key contributions aplenty, it has been the bowlers taking centre stage for their opponents.

Dan Douthwaite sits second on the list of wicket-takers for the 2024 competition - needing just two scalps to go clear at the top of the table.

A model of consistency, only once did Douthwaite go wicketless during the group stages, with his 4/44 against Sussex proving crucial as the hosts ultimately crept across the line by one wicket.

And the all-rounder has shown a penchant for delivering in key moments - precipitating a Gloucestershire collapse from 157/5 to 160 all out in their tournament opener by bowling the well-set half-centurion James Bracey.
