Final day wickets for Calvin Harrison, Brett Hutton, Dillon Pennington and Liam Patterson-White were the highlights for Nottinghamshire as the the Green and Golds shook hands with Cardiff UCCE at tea to conclude their pre-season contest.
Despite a gloomy forecast and a 50 minute-late start, the day remained largely unaffected by the rain as the two sides sought to make the most of the remaining overs.
A spirited batting display from the visitors ensured they reach 330/6 in their innings, with Chris Gibson starring with a tremendous century on the hallowed Trent Bridge turf.
Xavier Clarke and Harry Friend both came within touching distance of half-tons, the former clean bowled by Hutton and the latter caught at mid-wicket by Hameed, before Halstead-Cleak (58) and Gibson ensured a continuation of Cardiff’s batting form.
Pennington removed Halstead-Cleak via his rear pad to earn his second wicket of the contest with a 3.17 economy, and the near-last act of the fixture saw Gibson - just after completing a fine ton-heavy knock - fall short of the boundary and into the palms of Matthew Montgomery to hand Liam Patterson-White his own share of the spoils.
The two sides shook hands at the stroke of tea, as the Green and Golds now look ahead to a two-day friendly against Northants commencing on Bank Holiday Monday, before the red-ball campaign commences at home to Essex on the Friday.
