A double-century from Sammy King and five wickets from Fateh Singh helped Nottinghamshire’s Second XI to a commanding victory over Durham by an innings and 60 runs at Lady Bay.

King, who had 158 to his name overnight, completed his 200 from 291 balls, having found an ideal foil in Jordan Neil.

The all-rounder made 223, featuring 17 fours and three sixes, before being dismissed, with Neil continuing to accumulate runs having reached his own century from 184 balls.

Neil was the last man to fall, run out for 149 having spent nigh-on 300 minutes in the middle, as the hosts made 650 in reply to Durham’s 401/7 declared.

While there was resistance from George Drissell (51) and Jonathan Bushnell (47) in the visitors’ second innings, it was the spin of Singh and Matthew Montgomery that became a decisive factor.

Drissell was Singh’s first victim, offering no shot as his pads were rapped shortly after making 50, and the all-rounder would go on to bowl Bushnell before returning to take the final three wickets of the fixture.

Singh’s showing of 5/66 was ably supported by Montgomery, who had Ross Whitfield caught at short leg, bowled Luke Symington and Stanley McAlindon and removed Mitchell Killeen to finish with figures of 4/42.
