Nottinghamshire’s Second XI bowling attack relished an even spread of joy with the ball as Zimbabwe A were bowled out for 301 on an eventful first day of their friendly at Lady Bay.
After wicketkeeper-batter Marumani was caught by Ben Martindale off the bowling of Toby Pettman early on, the touring side rallied as Makoni tallied a steady half-ton alongisde opener Mpofu (46).
Both were dismissed with the gloves of Dane Schadendorf, Mpofu caught in behind off Tom Loten’s delivery, the other run out as Travis Holland and Schadenforf combined to pounce on a ill-fated run in the middle.
Fateh Singh then took two quickfire wickets to dismiss Myers and Madhevere in the space of three overs, the latter bowled by a wicked lengthy delivery.
Josh Beer and Farhan Ahmed both also took a pair each, Ahmed finishing the innings with a brutal economy rate of 1.90 from 10.3 overs as the visitors were all out for 301.
The Green and Golds came out to bat very briefly in the evening session, posting 13/1 after two overs at stumps on day one with Sammy King and Tom Loten in the middle.
