Grace Scrivens feels Trent Rockets’ women have turned a corner, after following up a brace of agonising defeats with a comprehensive victory over London Spirit.

Scrivens, who captained England U19s to the World Cup final in early 2023, hit 55 from 43 balls at the top of the order as the Rockets amassed 158/5 – the highest score ever made by the women’s team in The Hundred.

“The pitch today was really nice. I just tried to play my shots, and I’m happy it paid off,” she said.

“You’ve got to back your skills when you’re out there, and I felt like I did that today. It was really pleasing to get 50 and help the team win.

“We’ve been close on so many occasions recently, and have just been on the wrong side of results that could have gone either way, so it’s nice to grab a win today.

“It was a complete performance, and hopefully we can use that momentum going into the next couple of games.”

This was Scrivens’ second appearance on the Trent Bridge turf as a home player, having previously represented London Spirit and Sunrisers at the venue.

The 20-year-old now benefits from sharing a dressing room with the likes of Nat Sciver-Brunt – something which brings clear benefits.

“Players like that share knowledge so much, which is so good,” she said.

“Obviously Nat is one of the best in the world – and so are players like Ash [Gardner], so it’s great to learn from them, watch what they’re doing in training, take bits from their game and add it to mine.

“Ash’s two wickets in two balls changed the momentum of the game today. She’s a really class bowler and batter, so to have her in our team is a real boost.”
