Brett Hutton was crowned Player of the Year at Nottinghamshire’s End of Season Awards Dinner.
The bowler was rewarded for his exploits with the ball in Division One of the LV= Insurance County Championship, in which he finished as the top wicket taker of the competition with 62 victims.
A Notts Academy graduate, Hutton also recorded a First-Class top score of 84 against Kent in a crucial draw, and collected 11 scalps in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
He was one of six Nottinghamshire award-winners on the night, after a season in which the first team qualified for the quarter finals of the Vitality Blast, narrowly missed out on progression in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, and retained their status in Division One of the LV= Insurance County Championship having been promoted in 2022.

The Charles Vernon Price Memorial Plate - Freddie McCann
Academy batting all-rounder Freddie McCann fought off strong competition to be awarded the Charles Vernon Price Memorial Plate for 2023, with Farhan Ahmed, Thomas Giles and Travis Holland all earning international age group recognition in various forms across the summer.
The stylish left hander averaged 64.55 in age group and Academy cricket, with 710 runs including three centuries.
More impressive still, the 18-year-old accumulated 417 runs in seven Second XI Championship games at an average of 62.05 with three half-centuries and a top score of 110.
Emerging Player of the Season - Calvin Harrison
Having emerged onto the scene in T20 cricket across the previous two seasons, Calvin Harrison made his LV= Insurance County Championship bow in 2023, proving his pedigree as a talented multi-format player.
In the shortest format, he took 12 wickets at an average of just 11.16.
He collected the 17 victims in First Class cricket in nine games, deepening the pool of spinning talent at Nottinghamshire’s disposal.
He also displayed his batting ability, particularly in a rearguard effort against Warwickshire in only his second Championship match at Trent Bridge, in which he hit 38 in an unbroken stand of 103 in 38 overs with Joe Clarke.
Royal London Cup Player of the Season - Matthew Montgomery
Matthew Montgomery assumed something of a senior role in the Metro Bank One Day Cup team having become an established member of Nottinghamshire’s First-Class side throughout the course of the 2023 season.
The 25-year-old stood up to that task, amassing 286 runs at 47.66, finishing as the Outlaws’ top run-scorer in the 50-over competition.
Amongst a litany of impressive scores was a match-winning 92 not out against Kent in dramatic circumstances, sharing a 10th wicket stand of 38 in five overs with Dane Paterson to see the visitors over the line in Canterbury.
Vitality Blast Player of the Season - Joe Clarke
Joe Clarke once again showed his credentials as a multi-format technician across the course of the 2023 season.
In addition to his best run return in a County Championship season since joining Nottinghamshire in 2019, with 1,053 runs from 24 innings, he was Notts Outlaws’ top scorer in the Vitality Blast with 432.
That haul included three half-centuries, with his top score an imposing 89 not out off 53 deliveries. That innings came in a 68-ball 122-run partnership with Colin Munro which helped the Outlaws defeat Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston.
Only seven players across the competition blitzed more than Clarke’s 22 sixes, which helped him to an impressive strike-rate of 154.83.

Homegrown seamer Brett Hutton obliterated his previous best County Championship return of wickets - 44 in 2018 - with 62 in 2023 at an average of 21.40.
His scalp-laden season included six five-wicket hauls, with a remarkable three-game streak of wickets within his first over of an innings.
He returned his best First-Class figures in a Notts shirt on his first appearance of the season against Somerset at Trent Bridge, finishing with 6-45 to set out his stall for a remarkable campaign.
He tallied 11 further wickets in the Metro Bank One Day Cup to finish the Outlaws’ top wicket taker for the second season in a row in the 50-over competition.
