Alex Hales is seeing life on the T20 treadmill as a positive as the Outlaws prepare for their fourth Vitality Blast game in the space of five days, with Yorkshire visiting Trent Bridge (Tuesday 30 May, 6.30pm).
The opener, whose unbeaten 65 carried his side to victory over Durham, is part of an unchanged 14-man squad for the game against the Vikings.
Tickets, priced at £10 in advance for adults, can be secured here...
A man with vast experience of the fast-paced global T20 scene, Hales is unfazed by the speed at which the 2023 Blast group stage is unfolding.
“You have to see it as a positive,” he said.
“If you’re playing good cricket and feeling confident, you want the games coming at you thick and fast.
“We’re two from three – and I think we’d have taken that before the tournament got underway, especially with two away games – and we feel in good touch as a side.”
While Hales and Clarke are long established as the Outlaws’ opening pair, a host of fresh faces have made significant contributions to Notts’ campaign so far.
Colin Munro spearheaded his side’s valiant chase of over 200 against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford, while Lyndon James moved to the fore as the Outlaws looked to maintain the momentum of their chase at Chester-le-Street.
“Lyndon played really well. He came out confidently, hit some really smart shots and his intent was really good.
“Him and [Matthew] Montgomery have been outstanding for us so far, and it’s great to see young guys doing their part.
“As for Shaheen [Shah Afridi] – he’s a big man, he can give it a whack, and he got hold of a couple in those last two overs.”
Next up for Notts is a return to Trent Bridge, with Yorkshire Vikings providing the opposition.
With all adult tickets £10 in advance for the half-term clash, Hales is eager to experience the inimitable Trent Bridge buzz once more.
“It’s my favourite place to play in the world, being at home and playing at Trent Bridge,” he said.
“We’re blessed that we’ve got such good support and no doubt we’ll have that again.”
