Farhan Ahmed had the perfect reason to be temporarily excused from a test at school: a call-up for England's U19 Boys' World Cup squad.

The 15-year-old Nottinghamshire Academy prospect is the youngest player in the squad, and spoke of his reaction after learning he would be travelling to South Africa with the Young Lions in January.

The spinner has made 11 appearances for his country at U19 level to date, and follows fellow homegrown pros Fateh Singh, Lyndon James and Liam Patterson-White in earning recent calls for Englan's age-group or Lions squads.
