Retiring Nottinghamshire and England icon Stuart Broad has been nominated for the 2023 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

The 37-year-old, who was previously in the running for the flagship prize in 2020, received the recognition after enjoying a fairytale ending to his career.

Broad hit a six off the last ball he faced as a batter, before taking a match-winning wicket with his final delivery as a bowler to secure a drawn Ashes series for England.

The seamer concluded his career with 604 Test scalps - the fifth-most of any bowler to have ever played the game - while he ahs taken more wickets against his nation's oldest rivals than any other individual.

Sports Personality of the Year will be broadcast live on BBC One from 7pm on Tuesday 19 December, when the public will be able to choose their winner from a six-strong shortlist.
