Liam Patterson-White called on Nottinghamshire to take advantage of an extended stretch at their home-from-home in the north of the county, as the Outlaws prepare to face Surrey at the John Fretwell Centre.
Patterson-White is part of an unchanged squad for the clash on Sunday 13 August (11am start).
The left-armer secured his first wickets in the 2023 edition of the One-Day Cup in the Outlaws’ defeat to Hampshire at Welbeck, snaring two in an over before returning to account for Scott Currie.
And he made an impact in the field too, displaying pinpoint accuracy to run Ben Brown out as the Outlaws enjoyed the better of the early exchanges.
It was a performance which the Academy graduate admitted gave him a boost.
“It has given me a bit of confidence to get those wickets,” he said.
“Having had a few injury problems which took a bit of time to heal, I’ve lost quite a bit of cricket. So it is nice to be back taking wickets.
“I felt I was in the groove on Friday, which was really good.”
The Outlaws were ultimately defeated in their opening contest at the John Fretwell Centre, but Patterson-White was quick to praise opposition century-maker Nick Gubbins for his role in the visitors’ success.
“Credit has to go to Hampshire, and for Nick Gubbins to score a hundred on that kind of wicket was a great effort,” he said.
“On a different pitch that could have been upwards of 150 or 160. He is a very good player and to pace himself and hold his bat pretty much through the whole innings is pretty impressive.
“We thought the game was in the balance at the interval, but we got a little bit bogged down at the start of their innings, and they bowled really nicely at the top.”
With two fixtures in North Nottinghamshire to come, and with half of the Metro Bank One Day Cup group stages to be completed, Patterson-White remains upbeat about his side’s chances of making the knockout stages for a second summer in succession.
“We’ll take a lot of learnings from this and there is still a positive feeling in the dressing room after winning two games before this one,” he said.
“Coming back here again on Sunday, we will look to capitalise on what we have taken from this game.
“It should be a good contest and hopefully we can learn from today and bounce back with a win.”
