Nottingham Street Food Summer Tour, which takes to Trent Bridge on 30 April, is not only about the delectable produce on offer.

It is home, too, to a cornucopia of independent creatives, brought together by Pitch Presents to trade under one roof, featuring the city’s best locally-sourced handcrafted and sustainable businesses.

From makers to bakers, a range of vendors will be on site in West Bridgford later this month.

Co-founder Gayle Bennett, a small business owner who recognised the need for collaboration in the industry, is excited for what the day of trading has in store.

“We want to show off what Nottingham has to offer,” she said.

“The city itself has so many creatives that sell things online or make stuff out of their bedroom, and we offer them a platform to show that directly to their customers through markets.

“Teaming up with Notts Street Food is a great way to do that. Combining to show crafts, art and food, which is all local, highlights what we have to offer in our city.”

Pitch Presents began in July 2020 in Sneinton Market Avenue as a bi-montly market hosting an array of stall-holders.

With experience of bustling indie markets in London, Bennett wanted to bring footfall and energy to local businesses selling their products in the south-east of the city.

Variety is key to ensure no two stalls are the same at a given market.

The opportunity to do so in West Bridgford is new, too, with the tour having been to Kelham Hall earlier this month.

“My business aims to reduce throwaway fashion waste through garment repair, rework and resell,” Bennett continued. “I sell vintage clothing alongside repairing clothes.

“When I started, I did so as a trader, so I have done all the markets and learned along the way. I think I saw a gap for good quality market stalls. The level of craftsmanship that is behind our traders is brilliant.

“It is something new, coming to Bridgford. We have quite a few traders from around here, so we are looking to host some of them on their home turf. We are all really looking forward to it. It is a huge event for us and really exciting.”
