Half-centuries from Tammy Beaumont and Georgie Boyce were in vain as The Blaze were beaten by two wickets with fewer than two overs remaining in their opening 50 over pre-season fixture against Sunrisers at Notts Sports Ground.
England U19 captain Grace Scrivens struck a near run-a-ball 106 to guide the visitors through their chase of 232, whilst the hosts’ wickets were shared with two for Sarah Glenn.
Having won the toss, Marie Kelly fell in the first over, but Beaumont and Boyce rebuilt to share a second-wicket stand of 92.
It proved the largest partnership of the day as Sunrisers chipped away at and earned their rewards, with Sarah Glenn (40) and Faye Tunnicliffe (16) the other Blaze batters to make it to double figures before the home side were bowled out five short of their allotted overs.
In reply, Glenn struck twice early to reduce the visitors to 51/2 after 11.1 overs, before the spin of Josie Groves and Kirstie Gordon saw the back of Mady Villiers and Jo Gardner with a touch under 100 required from 18 overs.
Scrivens found company in the form of Amara Carr, however, and the pair added 48 in 12 overs before the former was caught by Beaumont off the bowling of Munro.
Carr shepherded the lower order through the latter overs and saw her side over the line with 11 balls left, with Lucy Higham, Grace Ballinger claiming a wicket each prior to the conclusion.
The Blaze play their final pre-season game against Northern Diamonds in Leeds on Monday before the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint curtain raiser at Trent Bridge on the 22 April, for which tickets are available here...
