The life and times of Bryan 'Bomber' Wells will be explored at the next meeting of the Nottingham Cricket Lovers Society, as the organisation celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The talk will take place in Trent Bridge's Long Room on Thursday 3 November from 7pm, with entry free for society members and £5 for non-members.

The society was founded by Wells in 1972, with the off-spinner having made Trent Bridge his home between 1960 and 1965.

Stephen Chalke, a cricket writer who produced the book 'One More Run' with Wells, will discuss the twirler's entire life and career.

Chalke's acclaimed work has also seen him receive the Cricket Society Book of the Year Award (2002) and the Wisden Book of the Year Award (2004 & 2008).

The meeting will begin with a short presentation from Notts Heritage Officer, Steve LeMottee, focusing on the story of Nottinghamshire CCC during World War Two.

Membership of the Society is £15 for the full season, or £5 for an individual meeting.
