“You can see it, now be it,” is the loud and clear message as the gates of Trent Bridge are thrown open to showcase the wealth of ways clubs can extend their involvement in women’s cricket.

An invitation has been extended, both to clubs and individuals, to attend an event at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s historic home on Sunday 20 November from 3.30pm – 7pm.

International umpire Sue Redfern will be on hand to provide insight into her globetrotting career in a question & answer session. Redfern will be joined by pathway coach and analyst Holly Armitage, and award-winning recreational official Amy Coyne.

Perhaps more importantly, the afternoon will also provide a dedicated session during which to discuss relevant opportunities for women and girls with knowledgeable members of Nottinghamshire’s Community and Development team and guests from the ECB and the women's regional side which is moving from Loughborough to Trent Bridge ahead of the 2023 season.

The event will take place in the pitch-facing Derek Randall Suite, where a hot buffet in keeping with the venue’s finest traditions of cricketing hospitality will also be provided.

The club’s dedicated Women & Girls Officers, Jemima Dalton and Martyn Hill, are heartened by the growth in participation in recent years, but are clear in their view that further momentum can be achieved.

“It’s an exciting time for the sport,” said Dalton, who is also chair of the East Midlands Women’s Cricket League (EMWCL).

“From Trent Bridge becoming the women’s regional host for the East Midlands, to Trent Rockets playing in front of five-figure crowds during The Hundred last summer – and now with the Women’s Ashes Test Match coming to Nottingham next year – the profile and quality of cricket is definitely there.

“We’re hoping to use that focus on the women’s game as a springboard to increased participation, putting a bat and ball in as many women and girls’ hands as we can across the length and breadth of our county.”

Hill added, “We want to kickstart the winter by showcasing the opportunities that are available to clubs in this space.”

“There are many thriving female sections already on the club cricket scene within Notts, and the number has grown exponentially in recent years, but this is a way to get us in front of even more people so we can state the case for growing that base still further.

“Whether it’s playing, coaching or officiating, indoor or outdoor, or played with a hard or soft ball, the opportunities for involvement are varied and wide.

“This event will demonstrate how accessible to clubs and individuals those opportunities can be.”

Following an opening presentation, groups will be invited to move around nine information & engagement stations at ten-minute intervals.
