Emily Hughes and Annie Williams led from the front with swift contributions of 83 and 94 as a youthful Nottinghamshire side beat Warwickshire by 98 runs in a 40 over friendly at Harborne Cricket Club, preparation for their final Royal London County Cup game.

Captain Olivia Baker was the other batter to make inroads with a 16-ball 30 as the Outlaws made an imposing 272 batting first.

Olivia Wade and Ruby Neal took two wickets each as Bears mounted their response, with the remaining wickets shared between five Notts bowlers, and a run out from Neal to dismiss the hosts’ top scorer Alessandra Belli, who made 37.

Warwickshire were ultimately dismissed after 36.4 overs, with cameos across the top order in vain.

Six wickets for the addition of 15 runs in the middle overs did for the home side who were 136-3 with 15 overs remaining, with a platform from which to accelerate, prior to a collapse, with a last wicket stand of 23 seeing Warwickshire to 174 all out.
