Australian overseas players James Pattinson and Marnus Labuschagne have been named in their respective squads as Nottinghamshire prepare to welcome Glamorgan for Trent Bridge’s opening game of the LV= Insurance County Championship this season.

Every ball of the four-day clash will be streamed live through Trent Bridge Live, featuring BBC commentary with the ever-present Dave Bracegirdle, multi-camera angles, replays, and post-match reaction from the Notts camp.

The hosts will be seeking to continue their positive start to the season having secured 23 points against Sussex in the opening game week of the season.

Glamorgan, meanwhile, are looking for their first win having drawn against Durham in their first outing.

International Battle

Glamorgan’s Labuschagne and Notts’ James Pattinson are no strangers, having both featured in Australia’s successful retention of the Ashes in 2019 in England, the former’s breakthrough year on the international scene.

Labuschagne is returning for his third season in the Welsh capital, having scored 1342 runs at an average of 55.91 across 2019 and 2021.

Pattinson will, too, be featuring in his third County Championship campaign having previously represented the Green and Golds in 2017 and 2019, boasting an average of 15.52 with the ball.

A potential battle between the pair awaits, and you can watch every ball.

Head to Head

The sides last met in First Class cricket at Trent Bridge 15 years ago, in May 2007, with the home side emerging victors with an innings victory courtesy of hundreds from Jason Gallian and Samit Patel.

Glamorgan owned the bragging rights later that summer, however, by recording a 55-run victory.

Their most recent meeting came in 2017 - the year of Nottinghamshire’s promotion to Division One - when the hosts rescued a draw at Sophia Gardens after Notts had piled on 448.

After scoring 187 in their first innings, Colin Ingram and Chris Cooke shared a 226-run stand following on before the sides shook hands.

More history is set to be made this week, with every delivery available to view online.

Opposition: One To Watch

All rounder Andrew Salter claimed career-best figures for Glamorgan in their draw against Durham.

The off-spinner took 7-45, including four wickets in eight balls, to help dismiss the North East outfit.

His figures are the best for a Glamorgan spinner in almost 30 years, since Robert Croft took 8 for 66 against Warwickshire in 1992.

Trent Bridge Live will have action from every delivery as Salter attempts to repeat the feat.
