Head Coach Martyn Kiel could hand senior debuts to four players as Notts open their account for the season with a pair of friendlies against Leicestershire at Cuckney Cricket Club on Sunday.
Olivia Baker, Evee-Mae Hicklin, Saide Hodgson and Eleanor Owen are all in line to make their first appearance for the side across the two games.
Their presence in the squad is bolstered by the experience of Lightning players Teresa and Yvonne Graves, Sophie Munro and Lucy Higham, as well as last year’s breakthrough performers Ella Porter and Maddie Ward.
The fixtures represent an opportunity for Notts to prepare for the Vitality Women’s County T20, as they look to add to their East Midlands County T20 title from 2021.
For the competition, which starts on 18 April, Nottinghamshire are in Group 1 alongside Cumbria, Derbyshire, North East Warriors, a Northern Representative Team, Lancashire and Yorkshire.
Each of the teams in Group 1 will host a fixture weekend of the tournament.
“We know that we’ll face tough opposition in the Vitality Women’s County T20 this year, so this fixture gives us a chance to spend some time in the middle and continue our preparation,” Kiel said.
“We feel we’ve got a strong squad, with a great blend of youth and experience, and we are able to showcase the best of the Notts pathway which is really gratifying.
“And whilst the competition fulfils an important preparatory role for those going on to play cricket at a regional level this year, we are fully focussed on making the season a successful one in terms of results and player progression, having achieved both those aims last year.”
