The Trent Bridge Community Trust’s YouNG Project has compiled an in-depth video giving youngsters a virtual experience of working at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.
With in-person work experience opportunities severely limited by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Trent Bridge Snapshot video aims to ensure the current generation of students do not miss out on insights into the world of work.
Interviews with staff from around the ground cover topics such as:
- Their main duties and responsibilities
- The key skills for their roles
- Their career journey
- Advice for those looking to follow in their footsteps
The video marks the first in a series of snapshots which will be going live on the project's YouTube channel over the coming months.
"Alongside all the other challenges they have faced this year, young people are finding it harder than ever to get an insight into potential career opportunities," said Mark Clifford, the Trust's Community Projects Manager.
"By providing this virtual tour of our own world-famous home, we hope we can give the next generation an idea of the pathways that might help them succeed in their chosen career. Maybe we can even open their eyes to jobs they may never have previously considered.
"From playing and coaching to groundskeeping, marketing and administration, the range of job roles found at Trent Bridge is probably wider than most people think - and we hope that this video brings some of those careers to life."
You can watch the first virtual work experience, and subscribe to the YouNG Project channel, here.
A free booklet, in which students can take notes throughout, and a certificate are also available to download to maximise the experience.
The YouNG Project aims to help young people boost their employability skills through work experience and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The project is funded in partnership with Rushcliffe Borough Council.
