Stuart Broad has scooped the Specsavers Test Player of the Summer award, after enjoying his most productive Ashes series yet with the ball.

The Nottinghamshire seamer was his country’s most potent bowler across the summer, taking 30 wickets across a five-match Ashes series and a solitary Test against Ireland.

The right-armer saved some of his most impressive performances for Test cricket’s most prestigious stage, taking 5/86 on day one of the Ashes and dismissing Australian opener David Warner on seven occasions.

"It's a huge honour to get this in a year when cricket has been in the headlines and inspired so many," said Broad.

"There was obviously a magical World Cup win that was brilliant to watch, and then a really intriguing Ashes series with some spectacular moments - particularly the Stokes and Leach partnership at Headingley.

"I think as cricket fans we'll all remember where we were when we were watching that - it was very special."

Broad succeeds his opening partner James Anderson as winner of the PCA’s Test accolade.
