Peter Moores says there is no need for Nottinghamshire to panic in the wake of their Specsavers County Championship defeat to Essex, as they prepare to face Hampshire on the Isle of Wight.

Notts have named a 14-man squad for the game. Jack Blatherwick has been added to the party, while Paul Coughlin and James Pattinson remain unavailable through injury.

Nottinghamshire squad (from): Jake Ball, Jack Blatherwick, Stuart Broad, Matthew Carter, Zak Chappell, Joe Clarke, Ben Duckett, Luke Fletcher, Jake Libby, Tom Moores, Steven Mullaney (c), Chris Nash, Samit Patel, Ben Slater.

The fixture will mark only the second time Notts have crossed the Solent to play a county championship game, with the hosts currently in good form.

In the past week, Hampshire have progressed to the Royal London One-Day Cup final and chalked up a red-ball win over Warwickshire at Edgbaston, so the Head Coach knows his side will need to be at their best.

“We are going to meet a side that has good momentum, so it's not going to be an easy game away from home," said Moores.

"It will be a new ground for both sets of players though, so maybe that works in our favour a little bit.

"We are going to have to play well, but we’ve got some good players and the key is not to forget individually or as a team that we are a new group. I said that at the start of the season.

“They’ve all got to learn to play well together and that really is what we are about at the moment.

“The key is not to panic. You’ve got to get your head down, play good cricket, build partnerships with bat and ball and see what happens.”

The Newclose Cricket Club is a new venue on the domestic schedule, although Notts did play a match against the same opposition in Cowes in 1957.

Following straight off the back of the match at Chelmsford, the trip brings different logistical issues.

“I’ve never been to the Isle of Wight in my life, so it’s a new one for me and I’ll look forward to it,” said Moores.

“But I’m also looking forward to getting another competitive game in straight away to address some of the things we didn’t get right at Chelmsford.

“We’ve travelled as a group by coach, then stayed on in Chelmsford before getting the ferry across on Saturday. We’ll train at the ground on Sunday and be ready to play on Monday.

“It’s a bit of a road trip for the lads, it’s something different and we’re looking forward to playing on a new ground.

“It sounds like a good pitch. The research we’ve done suggests it plays well. But I expect, like most club grounds, it will start to turn as the game goes on. Hopefully it will make for a good four-day game.”
