The Notts Outlaws attracted the largest average crowd in the country for this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup matches, which has earned them praise from the ECB.

Aggregate attendances nationally climbed from 144,489 in 2017 to more than 160,000 this year, and the average gate has gone up from 2,007 to around 2,350.

The Outlaws played a significant part in that rise, with the four games at Trent Bridge and one at Welbeck (pictured below) producing an aggregate of 26,948 spectators and an average of 5,390.

“We should congratulate the First-Class Counties, with Notts Outlaws leading the way with their Family Fun Day for the game against Warwickshire, which attracted a record crowd to Trent Bridge.” Gordon Hollins, ECB’s Chief Operating Officer

Notts’ figures were boosted by a record domestic attendance for the Club’s Family Fund Day against Warwickshire – where entry for all was £1 – which pulled in a crowd of 14,357 (pictured above). It was the best attended game of the competition outside of the final.

Saturday’s final at Lord’s, won by Hampshire against Kent Spitfires, attracted an attendance of more than 20,000 – maintaining the overall boost in crowds for this summer’s 50-over competition.

“We should congratulate the First-Class Counties who have played their part in an increase in attendances throughout the men’s Royal London One-Day Cup, with Notts Outlaws leading the way with their Family Fun Day for the game against Warwickshire in May which attracted a record crowd to Trent Bridge.” said Gordon Hollins, the ECB’s Chief Operating Officer.

“It’s already been a memorable summer of 50-over cricket with the record-breaking performances by England men in their Royal London One-Day Internationals, and the Royal London One-Day Cup has been another success for the whole game to celebrate.”

Like the national figures, Notts’ attendances are also well up on 2017, when they pulled in an aggregate of 17,578 and averaged 4,394 for their four Royal London One-Day Cup matches.

Commercial Director Michael Temple said: “There’s a proud tradition of One-Day cricket at Nottinghamshire and we’re thankful to our members and supporters for their commitment to attend matches at Trent Bridge in such high numbers this season.

“The Club made a considered decision to put more resource into the manner in which we market and operate these matches and welcoming 14,357 people to our group match against Warwickshire made for a great occasion.

“We remain committed to our Family Fun Day concept and look forward to re-affirming our support for the competition when the Royal London One-Day Cup Final takes residency at Trent Bridge from 2020.”
