The Notts Outlaws fixture against Durham in the Royal London One-Day Cup will be played at Grantham Cricket Club.

The match on Friday 3 May will see Nottinghamshire take first team cricket to Gorse Lane for the first time. Second XI cricket has been successfully hosted there for the past two seasons.

“We knew the World Cup was coming this year and that scheduling would require us to find an alternative venue for a 50-over game,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“We’ve played second team cricket at Grantham, during which we’ve been looking at the facilities and thinking about how it might work for a full fixture.

“We put a side out in 2017 that was pretty much a first team in preparation for the Blast. They all tried out the facilities and liked what they saw.

“We’re confident that everything is in place and we are looking forward to putting a show on there, both for locals and for our members and travelling supporters.”

Grantham Cricket Club is located slightly south of the town centre in close proximity to the A1, two miles from the train station.

“It’s a different experience for the players and spectators at an out-ground, but it’s certainly still enjoyable,” added Newell.

“Our members and supporters have attended the games at Welbeck in terrific numbers and I’m sure Grantham will be no different.

“It’s also a chance for the local community to enjoy professional cricket with international players on show, which I’m sure they will in good numbers.”

Regular trains travel between Nottingham and Grantham on weekdays - and the Club will lay on transport from Trent Bridge with details to be confirmed at a later date.
