The return of international duo Stuart Broad and James Pattinson to Notts Outlaws' squad for tomorrow's (Tuesday, 11am) Royal London One-Day Cup quarter-final at Somerset is 'a huge boost', says Head Coach Peter Moores.
England paceman Broad has been rested for two recent Specsavers County Championship games at the request of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), but has been made available to play at The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.
Australia seamer Pattinson has also been made available following his country's early exit at the group stage from the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.
Both men have been named in the Notts squad and are set to spearhead the attack as they look to set up a semi-final clash with the Essex Eagles at The Cloudfm County Ground, Chelmsford on Friday.
"It's worked out well for us - it's a double whammy," said Moores. "To get an international player back is always great, but to get Stuart and Jimmy back at the same time is fantastic for us.
"Both have had some specific white ball practice, and they're raring to go at Taunton in what will be a tough test for us."
"It's been a real positive for us to have Stuart around so often for games this summer because he knows where we are at, and his role in the side.
"Sometimes when an international player comes back into the fold, it can be difficult to integrate them, but with Stuart it's a case of carrying on where he left off."
Notts face a quick turnaround from red to white ball cricket after finishing off their four-day Specsavers County Championship match against Gloucestershire at Bristol today (Monday).
Moores said: "It's not easy, because you need to stay focused on the game in hand before the switch in format, and both games are very important.
"But Somerset are in exactly the same position as us, and it's something that as professional players you have to learn to deal with. I think most of our lads are well used to it by now."
Somerset finished second in the South Group behind Kent with five wins from their eight matches.
Moores, however, insists Notts are concentrating on their own abilities, rather than worrying about their opponents' strengths.
"You look through their side, at the likes of Jim Allenby, the two Overtons and others, and they have a very talented group of players,” he said.
"We know if we play to our strengths and execute our skills, though, we won't need to worry about what Somerset do. Our 11 players are well capable of doing the job and getting through."
