Stuart Broad’s confirmed availability for Notts Outlaws’ Royal London One-Day Cup final against Surrey at Lord’s tomorrow is a ‘big psychological boost’ for his team-mates, believes Head Coach Peter Moores.

The England seamer has been a doubt for the game with a bruised heel sustained during last week’s Specscavers County Championship game against Leicestershire.

His progress since then has been one of gradual improvement and he successfully passed fitness tests yesterday (Thursday) to the satisfaction of the ECB and Trent Bridge medical staff in order to take a place in the Outlaws’ squad.

Broad, 31, will also hope to be involved in the Investec Test series against South Africa, which starts next Thursday (6 July) at Lord’s.

“Stuart has been very determined to play in this final and has gone well in his rehabilitation,” said Moores.

“To have him on the park will be a big psychological boost for all the players and it will make us strong as a team going into that game.”

“I think he showed in the semi-final that he’s a big-match player. I expect the Stuart Broad we all know to pitch up and play tomorrow.

“It’s always going to be big for us because he has been with us now for the last three months and played nearly all the games – he’s a massive part of the team and great character to have in it.
