Nottinghamshire seamer Jake Ball is making a ‘strong recovery’ from injury and hopes to return for Notts Outlaws' NatWest T20 Blast double header this weekend.
The 26-year-old was forced to leave the field during the Specsavers County Championship pink ball game against Kent at the end of June with a strain in his right knee.
Mansfield-born Ball missed the Notts Outlaws’ Royal London One-Day Cup victory at Lord’s as a result, as well as England’s first two Investec Tests against South Africa at Lord’s and Trent Bridge.
The former Welbeck player underwent a scan which found no serious damage, and he has since progressed well under the watchful eye of Club physiotherapist James Pipe and ECB medics.
Head Coach Peter Moores says that if Ball comes through the rest of this week without a problem, he will be available for Friday's match with the Derbyshire Falcons (July 21, 6.30pm start).
“We’re really pleased with Jake’s progress and he’s started bowling again now and working hard at his fitness” he said.
“The scan showed that Jake needed to rest up and have physio, rather than needing any surgery, so that’s a real positive for us.
“It will be great to have a player of his quality back in the frame once he's back fit, and Jake’s looking forward to getting back into it.”
