Phase one of the Radcliffe Road development at Trent Bridge is now complete, with phase two set to commence at the conclusion of the current season.

Work that commenced in September 2017 has brought important improvements to the broadcast facilities which, having been built in 1998, had fallen short of modern day media requirements.

Securing the future of international cricket at Trent Bridge - and ensuring that the Club’s broadcast partners have exactly what they need to continue innovating in their coverage of cricket - was the rationale, as Chief Executive Lisa Pursehouse explains.

“It was about providing broadcasters with the infrastructure and space they need to deliver the kind of quality broadcasts we all expect in the modern day,” she said.

“The level of in-game analysis is far in excess of what we were experiencing back in 1998 and all of those things require additional space and technology.

“Other venues have taken strides in this area and we had to accept we were no longer fit for purpose.

“Phase one of this development has remedied that issue and ensured we are in a good position to continue hosting international cricket.

“Attracting major matches is critical to the future prosperity of the Club and to the local economy.

“This is about doing everything we can to protect that long into the future, as well as taking the opportunity to improve the existing infrastructure such as new lifts and additional toilet facilities.

“Certain facilities in Radcliffe Road have been affected by the latter stages of the development during the early weeks of the season. I’d like to thank our Members and supporters for their patience.

Commencing soon after the England versus West Indies Royal London One-Day International in September, the second phase will create a new pitch facing hospitality space at the top of the Radcliffe Road End.

“Incorporating this facility will generate incremental revenue which can help us fund other developments over the next decade,” Pursehouse explains.

“Facilities development will be a key part of our future plans as we strive to ensure that Trent Bridge is a cricket venue we can all be proud of.”
