Tom Keast and Matthew Carter held their nerve with the bat to secure victory for Nottinghamshire’s Second XI against Yorkshire at Scarborough.
Starting the day on 44-4 in pursuit of 97 for victory, the early loss of Anuj Dal for 29 did little to calm the away dressing room after Ben Kitt’s 6-49 on day two had created a guilt-edged opportunity to secure victory.
The score was 50-5 when Carter, on the back of heroics with the bat for Lincolnshire in the recent Minor Counties final, strode to the crease.
The 20-year-old off-spinner was positive form the outset, striking five boundaries in closing unbeaten on a run-a-ball 25.
Keast scored 26 off 59 balls at the other end as an unbroken partnership of 47 ensured that the Second XI’s season concluded with a morale boosting win.
