Matt Milnes took 4-54 as 14 wickets fell on the opening day of Nottinghamshire’s Second XI fixture against Yorkshire at Scarborough.

The 22-year-old seamer was the star turn of a bowling performance that saw the home side bowled out for 232 after being asked to bat first, despite Jonathan Tattersall’s century.

Ben Kitt celebrated his maiden professional contract by taking 2-44, including the scalp of Jack Leaning for ten. Matthew Carter, the 20-year-old off-spinner, got through 17 overs taking 1-58.

A late double strike from Karl Carver then reduced Nottinghamshire to 98-4 by the close. Opening batsman, Joe Barrett, who until then had played a patient hand of 37, was the left-arm spinner’s first victim. Carver went on to dismiss Dominic Brown, leaving Anuj Dal unbeaten on 26 at the close.

Greg Smith (13) and Billy Root (8) earlier fell to Matthew Waite and Ben Coad respectively making the score 40-2.

Nottinghamshire trail by 134 runs with six first innings wickets in tact.
