Jos Buttler has challenged England’s batsmen to be more authoritative with the bat as they aim to triumph in their winner takes all encounter in Bangladesh.

Having fell to a 34-run loss in the second One-Day International, the sides go into the final match of the series all square at 1-1.

And Buttler, despite being pleased with the bowling effort in Dhaka, is looking for a less tentative performance with the bat when the two sides square off in Chittagong.

"I thought our first 50 overs were fantastic, I thought we bowled brilliantly up-front. If things had gone our way nearer the end we could have, maybe, bowled them out for 190-200,” he said.

"They played some good shots and it got away from us a little bit, but I still feel that 240 was a really chaseable score.

"The only thing that really disappoints me is that I thought we were a little bit tentative. I thought we could have, maybe, gone out there and tried to stamp our authority on the run chase - that's what we want to be as a side now.

"I'd rather be 60-3 off 10 than trying to work our way there. We haven't got loads and loads of games under our belt but I think that's the way we want to play and live by."

Buttler’s wicket, LBW for 57 to Taskin Ahmed, proved a crucial moment in the match as the original umpire's decision was challenged on review.

The dismissal, and reaction when the decision was overturned, sparked heated discussions between Buttler and some Bangladesh players, animosity which spilled over into the post-match handshakes where Ben Stokes exchanged words with Tamim Iqbal.

"I was just a little bit disappointed in the fashion they celebrated; mainly by running towards me and giving me a bit of a send-off,” he said.

"You don't have to run up to a guy. I'm disappointed to get out but emotions were running high. They were obviously delighted to get the wicket. Maybe I should have just walked away.

"Obviously emotions ran high and Ben is an emotional guy, but he would not have reacted like that if nothing had happened.”
