Sam Wood and Brendan Taylor carried on their fine week with the bat but a strong Warwickshire side took the spoils in the first two T20 matches of the season.
Wood hit 31 & 32 in the two matches whilst Taylor added 60 & 68 as the Seconds fell just short in both of their chases at Edgbaston.
The Seconds won the toss and a Warwickshire side including the likes of Ian Bell, Laurie Evans, Chris Woakes and Will Porterfield were invited to bat in the early morning sunshine at Edgbaston.
Brett Hutton got the Seconds off to the best possible starts, dismissing Ian Bell for just five, before the Bears ramped up the scoring rate.
William Porterfield (81 from 49), Sam Hain (25 from 16) and Laurie Evans (36 from 26) all scored at a rapid rate before Chris Woakes (20 from 11) finished strongly to lift the hosts up to 196-7.
Notts lost Billy Root (5) in second over, with Tom Moores (20) following soon after, before Taylor and Wood set about laying a platform.
Taylor smashed 60 off 39, including five fours and three sixes, whilst Wood blasted 31 off just 18 balls as Notts remained in the hunt.
However, despite the best efforts of captain Brett Hutton (31* from 21), the visitors fell 26 runs, ending the innings on 170-6.
The second game began with Notts in the field, Ben Kitt bowling Tim Ambrose for nine before once again the Bears cut loose.
Home captain Freddie Coleman went to 54 from 28 balls, including four maximums, before a crucial intervention from Connor Marshall stemmed the flow.
The spinner bowled Coleman before adding the scalp of Jonathon Webb for 16, Notts enjoying a tight spell of bowling in the middle overs.
However, Ateeq Javid (26* from 13) and Aaron Thomason (17 from 7) lifted the Bears to another total of above 180, the hosts finishing on 189-8.
Wood and Taylor were again integral to Nottinghamshire’s efforts, the pair adding exactly 100 runs between them.
Wood was first to fall for 32, bowled by Recordo Gordon before Taylor added 80 with Anuj Dal.
The Zimbabwean’s innings finally came to an end though at the hands of Chris Wright, bowled for 68 in a knock that included six instances of Taylor clearing the ropes.
Gordon (5-13) then ripped through a large part of the Notts batting line up and despite Dal’s 35, the visitors ended ten runs short and the T20 spoils went to the Bears.
