Steven Mullaney knows that Notts Outlaws will have to be at their best to come away from New Road with victory, as they face the Worcestershire Rapids on Saturday.

The Outlaws endured their fourth rain-affected match in a row as their Friday night fixture against the Yorkshire Vikings was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Mullaney admitted the trip to Headingley proved frustrating but is full of confidence heading in to an important run on the road.

“We’ve been in excellent form in the white ball arena and it is naturally very frustrating that we haven’t been able to apply it to the T20 over the past two matches,” he said.

“Riki and Lumby have gotten us off to a fantastic start, especially in the 50 over format and against Lancashire in the T20.

“We still have got Alex Hales to come in on Saturday, which will boost the batting line up and hopefully we can get Andre in to hit sixes at some point.

“We’re full of confidence and will continue to be like that in the white ball format.

“Worcestershire are obviously in good form, we’re going to have to be at our best to compete with them, but I’m full of confidence that we can do that.

“They look like a team who know their roles and stick to their plans that work for them, and we’re going to have to look for areas where we can exploit and give us an advantage.”

With the second washout of the NatWest T20 Blast leaving the Outlaws in eighth place of the North Group with four points from five games, Mullaney knows there is pressure to perform in the upcoming fixtures.

However, the 29-year-old believes pressure is a given in any situation in cricket and says the focus is firmly on performing with the white ball tomorrow.

“No matter what situation you’re in there’s always pressure but I think if we can win the game we’ll be heading towards the top four and that is where we are looking,” he said.

“We're on the road for a little bit now, after Worcestershire we go to the Oval for a four day game but now we will be firmly focused on the white ball cricket and hopefully we can get a win.

“Outside the test venues New Road is probably one of our favourite games to go to - hopefully the weather holds off and we can get a game in.”
