The Broad Appeal and the Trent Bridge Community Trust have vowed to make joint gala dinners an annual event after An Evening With The Broads raised in excess of £10,000.
Stuart and Chris Broad, together with former Notts and England off-spinner Graeme Swann, provided rich entertainment to the 160 gathered guests at the black tie event in the Derek Randall Suite.
The collaborative approach has continued at the first Royal London One-Day International between England and Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge, with the two umpires wearing coloured hatbands to raise awareness for the two charities.
“We are so very grateful for all the effort put in to arranging the event, and to those that came and supported our two causes," said Chris Broad.
“Everyone was very well entertained and raising £10k was a wonderful effort in our inaugural joint event.
“Everyone at the Broad Appeal is looking forward to doing it all again next year.”
Thursday’s gala dinner also saw an inspirational contribution from Nottingham Forest Football Club’s Commercial Sales Manager Simon Fotheringham.
Fotheringham, a Committee Member for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, told the story of how he was compelled to get involved in fundraising having seen the effects of the disease on his Father.
Young apprentice Callum Pharoah also took to the stage to share his story, in which the Trent Bridge Community Trust played a key role in helping turn his life around.
“It really was a fantastic event, easily the best we have run,” said Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s Commercial Director Justin Tose.
“Graeme, Stuart and Chris were all brilliant, and the two speakers were very effective in terms of demonstrating the value of the two charities on people’s lives.
“It’s great that we’ve raised over £10k, and the bigger picture is the start of successful collaboration between the two charities, more of which we’ll see for years to come, including making this dinner an annual event.”
If you’d like to donate to the two charities, please feel free to do so by text by writing ‘TBBA16’ and your chosen amount into a text message, sending it to 70070. For example, TBBA16 £1 to donate £1 via text’.
